Why Shipping
Shipping a boat internationally is a specialized process — watercraft are larger, heavier, and more complex to handle than standard vehicles. You need a freight partner with direct experience moving boats, yachts, sailboats, and personal watercraft across the ocean safely.
At Go Ocean Logistics, we manage every step of your watercraft’s international journey: export documentation, port logistics, ocean transport via specialized RoRo or LoLo vessels, destination customs clearance, and delivery coordination. Whether you’re relocating your vessel, buying or selling abroad, or participating in a regatta, we get your boat where it needs to go — in the same condition it left.
Watercraft We Accept for International Shipping
Motorboats & Speedboats
Sailboats
Yachts
Fishing Boats
Pontoon Boats
Jet Skis / Personal Watercraft (PWC)
Inflatable Boats & RIBs
Houseboats
Important: All watercraft must be on a road-legal trailer for RoRo transport. If your vessel does not have a trailer, contact us — we can advise on cradle or container options.
SHIPPING METHODS
We match the service level to your actual deadline, not an upsell.
RoRo (Roll-On / Roll-Off) — Most Popular & Cost-Effective
RoRo is the most widely used and affordable method for shipping boats and jet skis internationally. Your vessel — mounted on its trailer — is rolled directly onto a specialized oceangoing vessel via a stern ramp, secured to the ship’s deck, and rolled off at the destination port.
How RoRo works for boats:
Your boat and trailer are treated as a single unit. The trailer’s wheels are locked into a metal deck track on the vessel, and the boat is strapped and secured against movement during the ocean crossing. The entire assembly is stored inside the ship, sheltered from saltwater spray and weather.
RoRo is ideal when:
- Your vessel is on a road-legal trailer
- You want the most cost-effective shipping option
- You need a fixed, reliable departure schedule
- You’re shipping a powerboat, sailboat, jet ski, or smaller yacht
LoLo (Lift-On / Lift-Off) — Fastest Transit Option
LoLo shipping uses a crane to lift your vessel onto the deck of a large cargo transporter. This method is faster than RoRo — vessels can reach Europe in approximately 10 days — but it is more expensive due to crane operator costs at both the departure and destination ports.
LoLo is ideal when:
- Speed of delivery is the priority
- Your vessel is too large or not suitable for trailer transport
- You’re shipping a large yacht or motor vessel
- Your destination port has crane facilities
Container Shipping — For Smaller Watercraft
Jet skis, personal watercraft, inflatable boats, and small tenders can be shipped inside a standard 20′ or 40′ container — either shared (LCL) or exclusive (FCL). This option works well for compact watercraft that don’t require a full trailer, and it allows personal items to be shipped inside the container alongside.
Step-by-Step: International Boat & Jet Ski Shipping
Step 1: Request Your Free Quote
Provide: vessel type and size (length, beam, height on trailer), your location or nearest port, and destination country. Boat and jet ski pricing is customized — no two vessels are the same size, and pricing varies by dimensions, departure port, and destination.
Step 2: Book & Prepare Documents
- Bill of Sale — required for all watercraft shipments
- Government-issued photo ID
- Title or documentation of ownership
We handle all U.S. export customs filing (AES/EEI), assign a licensed customs broker to your shipment, and advise on destination-country import requirements.
Step 3: Prepare Your Vessel
- Vessel must be mounted on a road-legal trailer
- Fuel tank drained to minimal level (safety regulation)
- Battery disconnected or alarm disabled
- Remove all loose gear, equipment, and personal items from the vessel
- Secure all hatches, doors, and canvas covers
- Clean the hull — many destination countries require clean hulls to prevent invasive species
- Confirm no fuel or fluid leaks
Step 4: Port Delivery or Pickup
Option A: Tow your vessel and trailer to the departure port terminal on the scheduled date.
Option B: We arrange inland trucking to collect your boat from your marina, home, or storage facility and transport it to the port.
Step 5: Ocean Transit — Estimated Transit Times
| Destination | RoRo Transit (East Coast) | RoRo Transit (West Coast) |
|---|---|---|
| United Kingdom / North Europe | 25 – 30 days | 40 – 50 days |
| Mediterranean Europe | 28 – 35 days | 42 – 52 days |
| Caribbean & Central America | 10 – 15 days | 15 – 20 days |
| South America | 15 – 28 days | 20 – 35 days |
| West Africa | 20 – 30 days | 30 – 40 days |
| Middle East | 25 – 35 days | 30 – 40 days |
Step 6: Destination Customs & Delivery
Our local agent network coordinates import customs clearance, duty payment, port release, and delivery to your marina, boatyard, or storage facility at destination.
U.S. Airports We Ship From
Jet skis and personal watercraft (PWC) are among the most common watercraft we ship internationally. They’re compact, relatively lightweight, and ship efficiently — but they have specific requirements.
Key requirements for jet ski shipping:
- Must be on a trailer for RoRo transport — standalone jet skis without trailers ship via container
- Fuel drained completely or to minimal level
- Battery disconnected before port delivery
- All accessories and covers secured or removed
- Hull must be clean and free of aquatic growth
Popular brands we ship: Yamaha WaveRunner, Sea-Doo (BRP), Kawasaki Jet Ski, and all other PWC makes.

We offer both RoRo (cost-effective, fixed schedule) and LoLo (crane lift, fastest transit) and we’ll recommend the right one for your vessel type and budget.

The Bill of Sale is required for all watercraft. You’ll also need a government-issued photo ID and proof of ownership/title. We provide a full checklist with every booking.
Pricing is fully customized based on your vessel’s dimensions (length, beam, height on trailer), departure port, destination, and shipping method. Contact us for an accurate quote.
No. All loose gear, personal items, electronics, and removable equipment must be taken off before port delivery. Only permanently fixed equipment may remain.
Yes. Most destination countries enforce strict biosecurity rules requiring clean, growth-free hulls. A dirty hull can be rejected at the destination port. We recommend a professional hull clean before transport.
Not required, but strongly recommended. Carrier liability is extremely limited and will not cover the full value of your vessel. We can arrange full-value coverage starting at 1.25% of vessel value.
